God’s Perspective on Down Syndrome

******************************************************

What a poignant reminder about our identity as Christians and how this family is applying in “hearts on” (instead of hands on ūüėČ with little Isaac. His spirit is perfect in Christ. Lord, I pray you would continue to open the eyes of his precious family and for all of us to see “in the spirit” our lives in you! Amen

Romans 8:5-13

New International Version (NIV)

5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[a] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[b] his Spirit who lives in you.

12¬†Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation‚ÄĒbut it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.¬†13¬†For if you live according to the flesh, you will die;¬†but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,¬†you will live.

Dear Friends and family, I am just going to put my heart out here again. I don’t want you to see a disease in me, with me, about me. I am spirit first. I am spirit first! I am spirit first!!!

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” ~ Pierre Teilhard de¬†Chardin

I don’t want you to see growing weakness, a rounded Pooh tummy :(, slurred speech, attempts to eat, timidity, tears of frustration and loss. I don’t want you to see battles lost. I don’t want you to see “dysfunction.”

I want you to see me in the spirit, healed, pursuing His passion and purpose in extraordinary love. My identity in Christ is destined to overcome and claim victory in the spirit of who I am. That is how I want you to see me, think of me and remember me.

As I write those words, the battle ensues. But I know it to be true. It’s a daily, hourly, moment by moment choice, breath by breath until it “grows on me” and “grows into me” and is being perfected in the messy faith, messy hope and messy love expressed through my fleshy life.

In seeing each other in the spirit of our identity, we have the opportunity to advance our Lord’s Kingdom by leaps and bounds. It’s a challenge, I encourage all of us to work our perspective for His Glory “on earth as it is in heaven.”

To see each other in the spirit??? What Beauty and Glory await an awakened perspective!  Amen

My Thoughts on God's Word

Isaac2

This is my son Isaac. The doctors say that he has Down Syndrome, but God says:

Very first off I am going to start with what the bible says. Isaiah 53:5 says that by His stripes we are healed and in 1 Peter 2:24, it says by whose stripes you were healed. I know this is a very hard concept to grasp, but we as believers are to consider ourselves healed. So, I consider my son Isaac healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ and I am standing firm on this statement forever!

Let‚Äôs look at how the world views DS first, then I will share my views on how God views DS. First I want to look at the definition of Syndrome. My advanced English dictionary on my phone says that syndrome means ‚Äúa pattern of symptoms indicative of some disease‚ÄĚ. So right from the start the world labels‚Ķ

Your ability to love others well, spread God’s word and glorify Him and His Kingdom is truly inspiring. Your spirit and passion are that of “one of those rare Christians whose very presence incites others to also be better Christians.” A.W. Tozer I LOVE YOU!!! T
