Ten Ways

This Post is dedicated to Murphy Toerner

I was ready to learn 🙂

Since then, many of you have showered me with these gifts.

Many of you have generously allowed me to make clumsy attempts with my offerings.

Many of you have received with the LORD’S graciousness.

Love is our Kingdom Playground with ten new “toys” :  promise, forgive, trust, enjoy, share, answer, pray, give, speak, listen.

A Diamond Under Pressure

When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.
Peter Marshall

Dedicated to my jewel of a husband, Rodger H. Elofson “Bucky”

He serves. He gives. He perseveres. Daddy advice on cars, classes, “can I send you a picture of this weird thing on this friend of a friend’s leg and you help her?”, leaky faucets, every boo-boo and illness under the sun, a few fender bumper calls, money money and more money, plane tickets, directions/I’m lost, bugs and more creepy crawlies, sign this, mail that, “could you call, they’ll listen to you”, necklace tangles. . .Husband cares through early morning/late night tears, four tube feedings/day, numerous transfers, pharmacy issues, doctor consults, comfort tendings that change by the moment, watching “girl” tv, learning hair dressing styles, marathon showers, hugs I can’t return, high maintenance needs like where do I spray this perfume again?, computer fixes, endless pillow props, drives back and forth  forth and back to Houston in our handicapped access red convertible 😉 . . .He does hold down a full time job. . .He has an occasional guy’s card night. . .And he remembers to return a tennis ball OVER the net a time or two.

See what I mean? He has a few facets going on. . .

Tuesday’s Tickle: Her Song

The tickle is one of the most underutilized life-giving dynamics I know. I’m talking about tempting your sacred imagination to stay with me here. There is plenty to take serious in our days. If we take this life too seriously, it seems to me we miss links of joy that hint at “kingdom come now.” I’ve, at times, experienced “tickles” to stir life into my day.

I understand the tickles to be the indwelling Holy Spirit playing, kingdom play, with my spiritual growth. Awakening me to the joys that make kingdom life more real here and now. Our realities are skewed with a weighted perspective in worldly things. Things like loss, money, doctors, worry, work, grief, responsibility, education, marriage, even parenting.

I am suggesting that we’ve forgotten how to break out of our weighted lives to play.

To live fully in a moment of joy connects the business of humanity to the enlightenment of the divinity.

On Tuesdays, Let’s enjoy some light hearted moments that awakens joy into our beings. The Lord has a great sense of play. He knows we need play and the joy it creates to live abundantly and tap into our eternal lingerings. So en-joy!!!

Monday’s Manna Moment: Victory/Priscilla Shirer

“Begin the battle on your knees. . .”
“We are not fighting for victory, we are fighting from victory.”
“I don’t want to be so intimidated by the enemy that I don’t get to experience the blessings that God has already for me with my name on it.”

Absolutely. I am in full agreement with this Truth. It’s applying to the circumstance that challenges us. What is victory when it doesn’t play out like a win?

Starting from victory with an incurable disease? After a divorce? Bankruptcy? A child dies? The same marriage issues ignites another hurtful fight? Your best is rated average?

The best I can discern, is that we have to let God define the victory. If we try to go by how things look to us, our perspective will blind us.

Faith opens our eyes to see our fight from victory.

Even as I write the irony is that I feel defeated from this disease. My feelings will come and go, but His Truth remains. He has already claimed victory over this disease. He has claimed victory over your circumstance before you even step into it. Stand on His Victory and fight from it.

Banana Pudding Refrigerator Oatmeal

Ashie loves this!!! Moms go for it. . .

SOLE Food Kitchen

During our long, hot summers, I typically have sprouted grain bread/toast with homemade jam and a frozen fruit smoothie for breakfast. While I absolutely love steel cut oatmeal, the thought of making or eating hot oats before heading out into the humidity is just not appealing.

So I was intrigued by the experiments of a fellow blogger, Melissa at My Whole Food Life. She has been blogging all summer about no-cook refrigerator oatmeal recipes. I posted a list of links below! Like the whole chia seed thing, it took me a while to work myself up to eating cold oatmeal (yes, you can heat it in the microwave, but follow along with me here). Wouldn’t cold oatmeal be gross? Could the overnight process really soften the steel-cut oats? What would cold oatmeal taste like?

There was only one way to find out, and since I ran out of food…

Tea Time: March 11, 2014: The Wall of Fear: Part II

I experience the worldly, “fleshly” side of self in it’s full blown intensity. It’s just how I’m made. I’m passionate about life, so I feel things deeply. Maybe some of you can relate. Regardless of how your feelings fall on our continuum, we’ve all got flesh/feelings to process through to discover emotional maturity and our greater spiritual selves. I refuse to minimize our heart lives and I refuse to minimize our spirit-filled identity. I might add here our  own Jesus was both fully human and fully divine. We are some imperfect mix. . .”messy glory”. . .made to reflect Him through a glass darkly:

1 Corinthians 13:12

King James Version (KJV)

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

That girl curled up in a ball of misery? The intensity of the darkness?  The thick wall of fear holding us on the inside of our journey. Things are not as they appear. Break through that intimidating wall of fear into more of our destiny. From a Kingdom perspective. . .

Doing Faith afraid can be stepping through and beyond the wall into. . .
