Tuesday’s Tickle: Best Day Ever

Where along our path to adulthood, do we lose this delight?

Take it from me, life is too short, make today the best day ever!!!

(This is Constance’s niece at Disney World a few months ago.)

Tuesday’s Tickle: Cheerful Tickle

We all need the element of surprise. It is sadly minimized. It feeds the joyful delightful and wonder of the child in us. Stop. Slow down. Read that sentence again. It bares the weight of His Glory if we let it come down onto our shoulders.  A little surprise can wake that sleeping child in you to: play with your children, authentic smile (yes i know you are faking some of those beauties), open teachable hearts to our Father.

Make little surprises happen: a piece of chocolate after a lunch out, a note slipped in your husband’s pocket, a ten dollar bill slipped into that starving college student’s wallet, a little happy to the grocery store clerk!

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 18:3

Tuesday’s Tickle: Who Dun It?

Proverbs 15:13

A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.
Proverbs 15:15

All the days of the afflicted are bad, But a cheerful heart has a continual feast.

This is so our Mollie!!! Even looks like her.

She has no partners in crime unless Hope comes home with Bella 😉

Thank you Ashie for sharing this!!! Thank you Kathleen for secretary time!!!

I’m going to have to give you a raise!!!

Tuesday’s Tickle: Front Row Seat

I’ve always been a front row girl, but NOT with Roller Coasters!!!

Classes, conferences, church and any kind of performance. The amazing grace of my handicap is that it sometimes blesses me with a front row seat!!!

None of my daughters took after me in this posture 😉

As I grew out of college into grad school I still sat front row and asked the most questions.  I wanted to go deeper.

Now still front row for conferences, movies, musicals, plays (saw The Secret Garden at our school).  I still seek out death.  The pulse of the dynamic embrace my heart.  The facial interplay captures my mind.  There is always take away for my soul.

But I’m still God’s Front Row Seat Girl!! I wonder if angels concertinas have front row seats?

Tuesday’s Tickle: Wonder

These giggles cause us to pause seriously to seek out our wonder at the little things that bring deep joy!

“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” Mark 10:15

This is the purest form of what I’ve coined the phrase “Kingdom Play.” We are created to enter the kingdom as a child abandoned to wonder of the moment that erupts in joy!!! (If you don’t think that God has a sense of humor just listen to what you don’t see.) That paper torn to shreds with full belly giggles was, here comes the punch line, was a rejection letter!!

Let it tickle you alive to the Holy Spirit’s presence in you. 🙂

Tuesday’s Tickle: Her Song

The tickle is one of the most underutilized life-giving dynamics I know. I’m talking about tempting your sacred imagination to stay with me here. There is plenty to take serious in our days. If we take this life too seriously, it seems to me we miss links of joy that hint at “kingdom come now.” I’ve, at times, experienced “tickles” to stir life into my day.

I understand the tickles to be the indwelling Holy Spirit playing, kingdom play, with my spiritual growth. Awakening me to the joys that make kingdom life more real here and now. Our realities are skewed with a weighted perspective in worldly things. Things like loss, money, doctors, worry, work, grief, responsibility, education, marriage, even parenting.

I am suggesting that we’ve forgotten how to break out of our weighted lives to play.

To live fully in a moment of joy connects the business of humanity to the enlightenment of the divinity.

On Tuesdays, Let’s enjoy some light hearted moments that awakens joy into our beings. The Lord has a great sense of play. He knows we need play and the joy it creates to live abundantly and tap into our eternal lingerings. So en-joy!!!
